Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ratings volume: NewsMemory at 662 against Times's 34. Times's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.
