Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ToonCamera at 4.8 against Chroma Hue's 4.1. ToonCamera also leads on ratings volume (8.6K vs 25) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). Chroma Hue's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ToonCamera sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Chroma Hue sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ToonCamera holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ToonCamera has 8.6K ratings behind it against 25, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 86% of ToonCamera's written reviews are positive against 82% of Chroma Hue's.
ToonCamera ships an update every 3 months, Chroma Hue fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
