Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: What Hi at 4.6 against Pure Connect's 2.6. What Hi also leads on ratings volume (98 vs 14). Pure Connect's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 21) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. What Hi sells 21 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Pure Connect asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

What Hi holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: What Hi has 98 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Pure Connect's written reviews are positive against 11% of What Hi's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Pure Connect ships an update every 2 months, What Hi every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
