Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Wordzy at free against Verbena's subscription. Wordzy also leads on ratings volume (5 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). Verbena's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 69 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Wordzy against 5.0 for Verbena. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wordzy has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Wordzy ships an update every 69 months, Verbena every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
