Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Boatsales at 5.0 against realestate.co.nz's 4.6. Boatsales also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). realestate.co.nz's advantage is ratings volume (48 vs 7) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Boatsales holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: realestate.co.nz has 48 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of realestate.co.nz's written reviews are positive against 37% of Boatsales's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
realestate.co.nz ships an update every 3 weeks, Boatsales fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
