Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Drummer Lite at 5.0 against Play Drums!'s 3.7. Drummer Lite also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5) and iOS requirement (12.3 vs 15.0). Play Drums!'s advantage is update cadence (every 4 months vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (13 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Play Drums! sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Drummer Lite asks for nothing beyond the download.
Drummer Lite holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Play Drums! has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Drummer Lite's written reviews are positive against 40% of Play Drums!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Drummer Lite ships an update every 14 months, Play Drums! every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
