Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: iSmartVideo at 5.0 against InstarVision's 4.4. iSmartVideo also leads on iOS requirement (7.0 vs 13.0). InstarVision's advantage is review sentiment (93% vs 56%) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
iSmartVideo holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: InstarVision has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of InstarVision's written reviews are positive against 56% of iSmartVideo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
InstarVision ships an update every 5 weeks, iSmartVideo every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
