Verdict

The call

The Eagle Tribune and Boston Herald both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 52% of The Eagle Tribune's written reviews are positive against 13% of Boston Herald's. The Eagle Tribune also leads on iOS requirement (12.4 vs 15.0). Boston Herald's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months) and chart position (#197 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Boston Herald holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 255 and 968 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of The Eagle Tribune's written reviews are positive against 13% of Boston Herald's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

The Eagle Tribune ships an update every 4 months, Boston Herald monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
