LogGPS is a GPS data logger and recorder utility that saves all GPS data when you press the 'Save' button. The saved data includes notes, date and time, longitude, latitude, altitude, horizontal accuracy, vertical accuracy, speed, course, heading, and heading accuracy. The notes are not cleared between saves so you may save multiple data points with the same notes, add to the existing notes, or you may manually clear or edit the notes between saves. LogGPS is an ideal application to use for remote GPS data gathering with the intent of importing the GPS data into another application. LogGPS does not require any mapping for basic operation and therefor it does not require any network access. Because it does not require network access and currently does not record in the background it is fast and very easy on battery life. LogGPS has an option for a Big Button mode that make the entire screen a 'Save' button. Once activated, touching anywhere on the screen saves the current GPS location. This mode was designed specifically for city administrations to log locations for follow-up code enforcement inspections. It is possible to show any saved location using a map application. Of course, it only works if you have network access. There is also a 'return to location' function. After selecting a saved location, select the 'Return To' button and a new view will appear that shows the course, bearing, distance, and time to return to the saved location. The user may view all saved GPS readings. Individual readings can be deleted and notes edited. Clicking ‘Export’ allows sharing the collected data as a comma separated (CSV), GPX route, and/or GPX waypoint file. Data is exported without any transformations (metric units and UTC) regardless of the display settings. Once the data is exported and a file selected, it can be emailed, sent to other applications, saved in a common file area, etc. using the 'Share' button Settings in the Apple Settings application allow: - Metric or US Customary Units for displayed distance. - Local device time or UTC for displayed time. - DMS or fractional degrees for displayed latitude and longitude. - Sorting newest readings at top or bottom. - Selection of mapping application (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Google Web.) - Self contained help files. - GPS update settings to balance battery life with accuracy. - Selection of CSV export formats (header row inclusion, time format, separator, null values, line endings, etc.) - Type of Save feedback.

TripLogger is a GPS logging and navigation app which records locations both locally on the device and optionally to a remote server, such as the open-source TripServer [1] remote logging server. GPX [2] files containing waypoints, planned routes and previous tracks can be imported and displayed on the map using Apple's MapKit for SwiftUI API. Routes and waypoints can also be created interactively on the map. [1]: https://www.fdsd.co.uk/trip-server-2/ [2]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_Exchange_Format The map is updated in real time using the locally logged locations such that you can see where you have been and where you want to go based on the currently selected route. The map can also be used on the Apple Watch. TripLogger is now also available for macOS systems using MacCatalyst support. Please note that the maps are not available offline within the app, other than those parts that the Apple MapKit API has cached, even if you have saved offline maps within Apple's Maps app. The route, track and waypoints are still visible, but with missing or no map detail in the background. You can of course still use Apple Maps offline features in that situation, perhaps switching between the two. However, always carry traditional paper maps and a compass! Different time and distance intervals can be applied to remote and local logging. For remote logging you will need to setup and host the remote web server yourself or use a third-party hosting service. The app can be used without a remote logging service. The app is designed to provide configuration options which can be used to minimize battery usage. For example, if logging infrequently, the app can be configured to use locations based on Wi-Fi and the mobile phone network, then once a new location is received the GPS is switched on until a sufficiently accurate location is established. The GPS is then switched off again until the next time a new location is reported. Although the app is configurable to minimize battery usage, nonetheless, using location background mode may dramatically decrease battery life. The main page of the app displays a summary of its current status together with counters showing how many locations have been saved locally or transmitted to the remote host, including how many of those have succeeded or failed. When an active route has been selected the app shows the remaining distance and if the route contains elevation (altitude) data, it provides an estimate of the time remaining based on configurable values. An activity log reports key events such as the time and location of each position reported to the remote server. Tapping on the location opens and displays it in the Maps app. Locations that have been saved to the local database can be exported in the GPX file format. A paired Apple Watch can be used for either stand-alone logging directly on the Apple Watch or as remote control functionality to the app running on the iPhone, allowing you to monitor and control the application's logging features without needing to take your phone out of your pocket or bag. Depending on the the Apple Watch model, you may still need the iPhone to provide the Apple Watch with Internet access. The iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch can be used to create a note and include it with the next established location sent to the remote host. This is only relevant to remote logging. Notifications can be enabled to advise when the iPhone or iPad battery level is lower or higher than configurable values whilst discharging or charging respectively. Battery level notifications are only sent whilst remote logging is enabled and running on the iPhone or iPad. The app is free, without ads and is available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and macOS.
