Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: LI Wave at none against TODAY Show's shown. LI Wave also leads on update cadence (daily vs every 2 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). TODAY Show's advantage is ratings volume (29K vs 1) and chart position (#134 vs unranked). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
LI Wave holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TODAY Show has 29K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
TODAY Show ships an update every 2 months, LI Wave daily. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
