GyrOSC is a lightweight utility that sends your device's motion sensors to any OSC (Open Sound Control) capable application over Wi-Fi. Wirelessly control your OSC capable audio or video app by moving and tilting your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. Wirelessly send: • Gyroscope {pitch, roll, yaw} • Accelerometer {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis} • Compass {magnetic heading} • GPS {latitude, longitude, altitude, course, speed, time} • Quaternion {w, x, y, z} • Rotation matrix {m1 ... m16} • Rotation rate {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis} • Gravity {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis} • Magnetic field {x-axis, y-axis, z-axis} • Altitude {m, kPa} Control any live audio or video application that supports OSC messaging. Some examples include Max/MSP, Pure Data, Processing, Plogue Bidule, Isadora, and more. Features: - Customize message tags - Save and load addresses for quick setup - Screen lock for performance - Gyroscope orientation reset button - Control buttons to send OSC messages GyrOSC will automatically detect the available sensors in your device.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite at Free against GyrOSC's $0.99. Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 5). GyrOSC's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite is free to download; GyrOSC costs $0.99 up front. Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. GyrOSC asks for nothing beyond the download.
GyrOSC holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite has 1.8K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of GyrOSC's written reviews are positive against 81% of Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
GyrOSC ships an update every 7 months, Physics Toolbox Sensor Suite weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
