Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Math Formulas at 4.1 against Hands's 3.0. Math Formulas also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). Hands's advantage is review sentiment (83% vs 69%) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.6). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Math Formulas holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Math Formulas has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Math Formulas's written reviews are positive against 83% of Hands's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Math Formulas ships an update monthly, Hands every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
