Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: global storms at 4.5 against Wind Map's 3.6. global storms also leads on ratings volume (13K vs 35) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). Wind Map's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 27%) and in-app purchases (none vs 3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

global storms holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: global storms has 13K ratings behind it against 35, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of global storms's written reviews are positive against 63% of Wind Map's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

global storms ships an update every 3 weeks, Wind Map every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
