Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Herald Dispatch Local News at 4.2 against Inter Mountain's 3.0. Herald Dispatch Local News also leads on update cadence (every 11 months vs every 61 months) and ratings volume (100 vs 2). Inter Mountain's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 30%) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Herald Dispatch Local News holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Herald Dispatch Local News has 100 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Herald Dispatch Local News's written reviews are positive against 67% of Inter Mountain's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Herald Dispatch Local News ships an update every 11 months, Inter Mountain every 61 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
