Verdict

The call

TouchChat Discover and Grid for iPad both sit at 3.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 50% of Grid for iPad's written reviews are positive against 22% of TouchChat Discover's. Grid for iPad also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). TouchChat Discover's advantage is ratings volume (101 vs 18). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TouchChat Discover sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Grid for iPad sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $10.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

TouchChat Discover holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TouchChat Discover has 101 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of TouchChat Discover's written reviews are positive against 50% of Grid for iPad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

TouchChat Discover ships an update every 2 months, Grid for iPad fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
