Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: CE at 100% against Fuelbook's 54%. Fuelbook's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 3.8) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Fuelbook holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fuelbook has 1.2K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Fuelbook's written reviews are positive against 100% of CE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Fuelbook ships an update monthly, CE every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
