Check out this ad-free map of nuclear power plants worldwide and get an idea of how many there are already. The following arithmetic made me create this app: Scientists keep claiming that a worst-case scenario will happen only every 10,000 years. Sounds acceptable? It is an estimate for one nuclear power plant - but there are about 400 worldwide. Fukushima could have been anticipated by doing this calculation: 1986 + (10,000 / 400) = 2011. Who can say now it has been unpredictable? Accidents that were classified on the INES scale appear as colored circles. White = no events; up to dark red = catastrophy. Each location provides information about • start of operation, year of planned shutdown • gross output • in-depth information on mobile wikipedia page • news (wikipedia page history) • overview of recent wikipedia changes • worst recorded event (INES scale) • type of reactor • circle with configurable radius can be drawn around each plant Thanks to Chris, CCM and especially my brother Ralf for helping me compiling the data.

The Nuclear Bomb Simulator is a free app designed to calculate the areas affected by a nuclear explosion based on the nuclear explosion formula. This app is suitable for those who wish to learn about the destructive effects of nuclear explosions and may be useful for evacuation planning. The app can calculate the approximate radiation radius and possible number of casualties based on a list of existing or past weapons and their yields, such as Fat Man, Little Boy, Tsar Bomba, and 28 other weapons with their respective yields. The development of this app is primarily for educational and awareness purposes. We hope for world peace and the preservation of our planet!

Nuclear Power Plants also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (71% vs 51%). Nuke Simulator's advantage is ratings volume (1K vs 13). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nuclear Power Plants sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Nuke Simulator sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Nuclear Power Plants against 4.5 for Nuke Simulator. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nuke Simulator has 1K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two.
