Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cowboy Legend at 100% against Guidebook's 52%. Cowboy Legend also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). Guidebook's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (3.7K vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Guidebook holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Guidebook has 3.7K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Guidebook's written reviews are positive against 100% of Cowboy Legend's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Guidebook ships an update every 2 weeks, Cowboy Legend every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
