The Karnaugh map is a method to simplify Boolean algebra expressions. In a Karnaugh map the boolean variables are transferred (generally from a truth table) and ordered according to the principles of Gray code in which only one variable changes in between adjacent squares. Once the table is generated and the output possibilities are transcribed, the data is arranged into the largest possible groups containing 2n cells (n=0,1,2,3...) and the minterm is generated through the axiom laws of boolean algebra. We have designed this application primarily to support students studying electronic engineering, although it is useful in other disciplines including computer science and mathematics. Features: - Minimize logic function entered as text, Karnaugh map or truth table - Up to 8 variables - Contains History option - Supports the Don't care condition - Shows representation of each minimized component in the Karnaugh Map

Write VHDL code directly on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch! This app is ideal for learning and testing code snippets! VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) is a hardware description language used in electronic design automation to describe digital and mixed-signal systems such as field-programmable gate arrays and integrated circuits. VHDL can also be used as a general purpose parallel programming language. This app uses the open-source GHDL simulator (http://ghdl.free.fr). GHDL is a VHDL compiler that can execute (nearly) any VHDL program. GHDL is not a synthesis tool: you cannot create a netlist with GHDL (yet). Features: - Compile and run your program - View program output or detailed error - Custom keyboard for easy input of frequently used characters - Optimized for connecting with external physical/bluetooth keyboard - Advanced source code editor with syntax highlighting and line numbers - Open, save, import and share VHDL files. Limitations: - Internet connection is required for compilation - Maximum program running time is 20s - One file can be run at a time - All entities should be have the same name as their files.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Karnaugh Map Advanced at 4.8 against VHDL Compiler's 2.7. Karnaugh Map Advanced also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). VHDL Compiler's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 69%) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months). On price, ratings volume and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VHDL Compiler sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Karnaugh Map Advanced asks for nothing beyond the download.
Karnaugh Map Advanced holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 7 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Karnaugh Map Advanced's written reviews are positive against 100% of VHDL Compiler's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Karnaugh Map Advanced ships an update every 9 months, VHDL Compiler every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
