Want to know how fast you're going, without having to look at your iPhone screen? Speed Speak is a talking speedometer, which announces your speed aloud using text-to-speech technology! Use it while skateboarding, cycling, sailing, kayaking, gokarting, blokarting, skiing, snowboarding... or anywhere where you don't (or perhaps do) have a dashboard! Options screen allows you to choose between: * miles per hour * kilometers per hour * knots * US, UK and AU voices Configure how often, or at what speed intervals, you'd like your speed announced. ---- Note: SpeedSpeak isn't a substitute for your vehicle's speedometer. It is dangerous (and might be illegal) to use your iPhone while driving. Always drive below the speed limit and pay attention to the road.

We use state-of-the art computer vision methods to determine the location of the user within the world. We take the latest augmented reality toolkits, global positioning advances and machine learning methods, combine them with some magic and obtain the position with incredible accuracy. **Spatial audio Spatial audio simulates the way people naturally understand sound locations. When a phone rings, or a friend calls, you immediately turn your head. Spatial audio does the same and we use this to help you find the next waypoint in the easiest way. Verdict
The clearest difference is price: waveOut at Free against Speed Speak's $0.99. waveOut also leads on rating (3.0 vs 2.3) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 8 months). Speed Speak's advantage is review sentiment (20% vs 0%) and ratings volume (10 vs 2). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
waveOut is free to download; Speed Speak costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
waveOut holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Speak has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of Speed Speak's written reviews are positive against 0% of waveOut's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Speed Speak ships an update every 8 months, waveOut every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
