At the heart of Sermable is its adaptive learning system. The text is divided into smaller units called "beats," consisting of three sentences. These segments are gradually merged as users improve. Learning takes place sequentially with clear recall sessions: first after 10 minutes, then in the evening, the next morning, and thereafter at increasing intervals (2, 3, 5, and 7 days). The system uses an AI-based variant of the SM-2 algorithm to optimize review sessions according to spaced repetition principles. If a target date approaches, intervals are automatically compressed to ensure the speech is learned in time. During practice, words gradually fade as users demonstrate mastery.
