Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Brainscape at 21K against MRI Plan's 6. MRI Plan's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 82%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Brainscape sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and MRI Plan sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
MRI Plan holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainscape has 21K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 82% of Brainscape's written reviews are positive against 100% of MRI Plan's.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
