iAmReading vs Montessori Math

iAmReading app is based on experience in a primary Montessori classroom. It is designed to teach new readers how to read repeating sounds in the english language. It is designed to be used for the beginning reader age and up. The word groupings are based on repeating sounds or phonetics. In a classroom setting each page in the app is an actual card with the list of words. An adult would then sit with the pupil as they pronounce the words on the card. In this app the student can do it by themselves and then press the word to hear the correct pronounciation to check their progress. The main user interaction is found in the Words tab on the iPhone. On the iPad the main word selection is on the Choose a word grouping window. The user can click on a word grouping icon to display the words. If there is more then one set of words of the grouping like the long e vowel sounds then another window will appear to further specify the long e vowel word grouping. When the user picks one of these groupings a window with a list view of all the words will appear. To hear the repeating sound select the Sound button at the top bar. To go back to the previous window select the Done button. To hear a word in the list just select the word with the row and the app will pronounce the word. If you are using an iPhone there will be more then one page of word groupings. There are 64 different word groupings and around 8 or more words in each word grouping.

HUNDRED BOARD 101-200 - Learn the concept of counting beyond 100. COUNT TO 1000! - Practice counting from 1 all the way to 1000 and practice individual sets. SKIP COUNTING - Learn to skip count using the Hundred Board by 2s, 3s, 4s, etc. HUNDRED BOARD PATTERNS - Practice your knowledge of numbers out of sequence and assemble colorful patterns with numbers. NUMBER SEQUENCING - Practice identifying numbers by finding What Comes Before, After & In-Between? FRACTIONS - Learn the concept of breaking a whole into equal parts and progress up to identifying fractions numerically. ADDITION CHARTS - Visualize the basic addition equations with charts. ADDITION TABLES - Practice the Addition Tables over and over. SUBTRACTION CHARTS - Visualize the basic subtraction equations with charts. SUBTRACTION TABLES - Practice the Subtraction Tables over and over. MULTIPLICATION CHARTS - Visualize the basic multiplication equations with charts. MULTIPLICATION TABLES - Practice the Multiplication Tables over and over. DIVISION CHARTS - Visualize the basic division equations with charts. DIVISION TABLES - Practice the Division Tables over and over. These math activities are designed for both classroom and home use. All activities are self-correcting and self-guided.
