Diwartapati is a companion for the Diwartapati Adhiṭṭhāna: the 108-day vow of reciting the Divā tapati verse (Dhammapada 387) kept by Theravada Buddhists in Myanmar. "The sun shines by day, the moon lights up the night, but the Buddha shines with radiance all day and all night." Start your vow on a day you choose, see which day and stage you are on, recite in the right order and keep the vow unbroken with a gentle daily reminder, in Burmese or English. MADE FOR IPHONE DUO • Open, pages spread across both halves: the list beside the reading, books that open like real books • The 3D home shrine shows its three walls across the open display and follows the fold • Folded, everything works as on any iPhone YOUR 108-DAY VOW, DAY BY DAY • 12 stages of 9 days, counted from your own start date • Today's target, from 9 to 108 recitations, and a record chart of every day • A recitation guide for homage, the verse and the sharing of merit • A progress card to share when you complete a stage PRAYER BEADS AND COUNTER • A tap counter with today's target and gentle haptics • Animated prayer beads for 27, 54, 108 or your own number of rounds • A daily reminder at your chosen start time MORE VOWS • Nine Qualities (Navaguṇa) vow programs of 3, 9, 21, 30, 45 and 90 days • A vow of your own, or the 16-tier Khanti pagoda, each with its own daily count and reminder YOUR 3D HOME SHRINE • Make the daily offerings of water, flowers and light at your own shrine • Strike the gong to share merit; the sky follows the time of day • Visit the story gallery, chant room, vow hall and hall of honour LEARN THE DHAMMA • A Dhammapada verse every day in Pali, English and Burmese • Illustrated Dhamma story books for young readers • Dhamma quizzes with levels, a daily quiz and an evening exam • Dhamma texts, talks and books, with offline downloads A KIND, MODERATED COMMUNITY • Share reflections, comment and rejoice with "Sadhu" • A Dhamma group chat • Report and block everywhere, community rules with zero tolerance for abuse, and moderators who review reports within 24 hours • Delete your account at any time from your profile FREE AND PRIVATE • No ads and nothing to buy • An account is optional: sign in with Apple or Google to post and to keep your practice in sync Diwartapati has been made by Sithu Aung since 2023. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Diwartapati at 4.8 against Mahabote's 4.3. Diwartapati also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 13 months). Mahabote's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Diwartapati holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Diwartapati has 678 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Mahabote's written reviews are positive against 75% of Diwartapati's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Mahabote ships an update every 13 months, Diwartapati every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
