Flashnote Derby is a fun, effective way for kids to learn to read music through fast-paced note flashcard games. Perfect for piano, guitar, band, orchestra, and general music students, this teacher-created app turns note recognition into an engaging game that works equally well at home or in music lessons. ———— Learn to Read Music — Fast Each race is a fast-paced challenge: identify notes correctly as you learn to read music faster and speed your horse toward the finish line. Missed or slow answers allow the other horse to catch up. After each round, students can review the notes they missed— turning every race into a meaningful learning opportunity. ———— New! Practice Mode (No Timer, No Stress) Students can now choose a relaxed 'practice mode' with unlimited time for each note. Perfect for beginners, this mode builds accuracy and confidence before racing competitively. ———— Multiple Ways to Answer Players can answer flashcards in a variety of ways: • Play the note on any instrument. Flashnote Derby listens and recognizes what you play (including transposing instruments). • Use a MIDI instrument • Tap on-screen letter names • Or play notes on the on-screen piano keyboard ———— Fully Customizable for Any Student Tailor each drill to match your student’s level: • Treble, bass, alto, or tenor clef • Select specific note ranges or individual notes • Add sharps, flats, or full key signatures • Adjust time limits (or remove them entirely in Practice Mode) • Expand difficulty all the way up to five-and-a-half ledger lines above and below the staff. As skills grow, you can increase the challenge. Higher difficulty earns higher scores—keeping students motivated. ———— Multiple themes keep practice fresh In addition to the classic horse race, students can take flight with the whimsical Pretty Pegasus course, blast through an arcade-style space challenge in Ecliptic Encounter, or switch to the seasonal Reindeer Race during the holidays. ———— Built for Teachers, Loved by Students Flashnote Derby is designed to fit easily into lessons: • Quick to set up and perfect for a 1–2 minute warm-up • Send homework assignments directly to students • Track progress automatically • See which notes need more review Teachers see real improvement. Students stay engaged. Parents appreciate the progress. ———— Why Flashnote Derby Works Many students struggle because drilling note names feels boring and difficult. Flashnote Derby turns this essential skill into a game—one they’ll want to keep playing. A little daily practice adds up quickly, and students learn to read music with confidence. ———— Get on the road to confident music reading today! Download Flashnote Derby and help your young musician master notes with joy—not frustration.

DEVICES TESTED Physical: iPhone 14, iOS 26.6 — camera, microphone, location, photo library, offline behaviour, session persistence across restarts. Simulators for layout only: iPhone 17 / 16 Pro Max, iOS 26. 3. FUNCTION AND AUDIENCE Voluntold is the volunteer app for the Columbus Adult Education Center (CAEC), a nonprofit in Salt Lake City, Utah teaching English and literacy to refugees and immigrants. Volunteers teach across several campuses. Attendance was kept on paper and hours emailed, so records arrived late or were lost and curriculum notes were not passed between volunteers sharing a class. The app records attendance and hours as they happen and shows what the previous volunteer covered. It is an internal tool for an existing volunteer programme, not a consumer product. 4. ACCESS AND CREDENTIALS THE APP HAS NO ACCOUNT REGISTRATION. Volunteers are screened via the organisation's website and a coordinator creates the account. There is no sign-up screen. This is deliberate: the app exposes student attendance records and personal data, so accounts go only to screened volunteers. Deletion is by written request per section 11.1 of our privacy policy at volunteer.columbusaec.org/privacy-policy/. As the app does not support account creation, in-app deletion is not applicable under 5.1.1(v). Demo account info provided in the form Features: Log Hours, Check In, Community Resources and Submit Ticket on the home screen; Roll Call, Curriculum and Notes under Classes; AI Assistant via the chat icon, top right. No sample files needed. 5. EXTERNAL SERVICES Anthropic PBC — assistant and resource translation, under a commercial agreement prohibiting training on the data. Twilio — SMS/WhatsApp to opted-in recipients (5:15). Google Drive API — teaching files in CAEC's own Drive account. Apple Speech Recognition (OS) — optional voice input; no audio is recorded, transmitted or stored. CAEC's own WordPress server on Cloudways — auth and programme data. No payment processors, advertising, analytics SDKs or third-party authentication. No data is collected for tracking. 6. REGIONAL DIFFERENCES None — the app is free and functions identically everywhere. The resource directory lists Salt Lake County services because that is where CAEC operates: programme content, not a regional restriction, and identical for every user. 7. REGULATED INDUSTRY / THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL Community adult literacy instruction is not a licensed activity in Utah, and the app provides no medical, financial or legal services. It shows lesson titles and numbers from curricula CAEC licenses for classroom use, including Reading Horizons — names, numbers and scheduling only, so volunteers know which lesson is next. No copyrighted instructional content is contained, reproduced or distributed. License documentation available on request. USER-GENERATED CONTENT Notes, time-off requests and messages are visible only to authenticated CAEC volunteers and staff within one organisation. No public feed, no user discovery, no browsable profiles, and no way for anyone outside CAEC to see this content. Every contributor is screened before an account is issued, and staff can remove content and revoke accounts from the admin portal. Happy to provide anything further.
