Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Groundskeeper2 at 4.3 against Jelly Defender's 3.0. Groundskeeper2 also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (19 vs 3). Jelly Defender's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 69%) and price ($0.99 vs $3.99). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Jelly Defender costs $0.99 and Groundskeeper2 $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Groundskeeper2 holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Groundskeeper2 has 19 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Jelly Defender's written reviews are positive against 69% of Groundskeeper2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Jelly Defender ships an update every 3 months, Groundskeeper2 every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
