Did you know that “Schadenfreude” is a German word defined as the concept of finding joy in someone else’s misfortune? It is also the main idea on which Neighbours back From Hell is built. A whole TV show based on playing increasingly outrageous pranks on your grumpy neighbor to keep the audience entertained and viewership numbers high. It’s good to be bad in this early 2000s trash TV-inspired slapstick extravaganza! As Woody, the vengeful star protagonist, you will prank your way through Seasons 1 and 2 of this fictitious, but aptly named TV show. Take the mischief from your nasty neighbor’s flat all the way to China, India, and Mexico where you will make sure his holiday is a living hell. While you’re at it, why limit your antics to your neighbor when you can involve his mother and fellow travelers? Whatever you decide to do, your trusty camera crew will be right there to catch all the action! Let your crooked creativity flow freely and watch the neighbor rage in desperation. Just be mindful not to get caught by him or his companions, or they will whoop you good and your TV show will be taken off the air! If you perform well by creating chaos in the neighbor’s life, ratings will increase, and you could win prestigious awards! Neighbours From Hell 1 & 2 Remastered in one package: 28 episodes set in the neighbor’s home, on a cruise liner, and in several different holiday locations around the world! Key Features: - All graphics newly rendered in Full HD - Framerate of all animations doubled for a smoother experience - Use stealth, skill, and style to perform the perfect ambush - Easy to use interface and controls - Superb cartoon-style graphics - Big band soundtrack - Full controller support

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Machinarium at every 5 weeks against Neighbours back From Hell's every 32 months. Machinarium also leads on ratings volume (1K vs 36) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Neighbours back From Hell's advantage is price ($5.99 vs $9.99) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Machinarium costs $9.99 and Neighbours back From Hell $5.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Neighbours back From Hell holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Machinarium has 1K ratings behind it against 36, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Machinarium's written reviews are positive against 67% of Neighbours back From Hell's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Machinarium ships an update every 5 weeks, Neighbours back From Hell every 32 months. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
