Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Shankz at none against Houston Texans's shown. Shankz also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Houston Texans's advantage is ratings volume (829 vs 6). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Houston Texans holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Houston Texans has 829 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Houston Texans's written reviews are positive against 50% of Shankz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Houston Texans ships an update every 3 months, Shankz every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
