Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Sound Museum at none against SampleTank CS's 10. Sound Museum also leads on rating (3.5 vs 3.1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). SampleTank CS's advantage is ratings volume (143 vs 6) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Sound Museum holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SampleTank CS has 143 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of SampleTank CS's written reviews are positive against 25% of Sound Museum's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

SampleTank CS ships an update every 2 months, Sound Museum every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
