This colorful educational App for the iPhone®, iPad®, and iPod touch® has all 52 illustrated picture cards (plus audio of each card text) from the How? Fun Deck by Super Duper Publications. Select the cards you want students to see, and have them develop their reasoning, problem-solving, and sequencing skills as they respond to questions like, “How do you … help someone who’s hurt?” and “How do you … make a sandwich?” This App is simple to use — each student looks at an illustration, and either reads the prompt or touches the screen to listen to the prompt. The student then gives a verbal response. After each answer, tap the green (correct) or red (incorrect) button to score the student’s verbal response. Move to the next card by sliding the card currently on the display screen to the side. To move to the next player, tap the bar at the top of the screen and select a name. You can also advance cards and players automatically by selecting the Auto-Advance option in the Game Options menu. You can leave a game temporarily and return to it later by selecting Pause Game from the menu. To return to the game, select Continue Game from the main menu. When you finish, view the results in a graph, and print or email your data. How? Cimo & Snow Spelling Pals is a great app for beginning readers to learn sight and sound out words. For sight words, your child will learn a combination of high frequency and sight words (from the Dolch Sight Word list). The list of 255 words was selected to cover words that a child encounters most often when learning to read (high frequency), including words that cannot be learned using pictures (sight words). Learning to spell these words adds to a strong foundation in reading and spelling for beginning readers. In this game, your child will help Cimo the penguin reach an iceberg to catch fish. Each correct letter chosen adds a block to his bridge. Finish the word and Cimo can cross, but watch out for wrong letters, or Cimo will take a dip! For sound out words, your child will learn 1,122 words that can be sounded out using common phonics rules (i.e, grouped by short vowel, long vowel, Bossy R's and other vowel team words), and others do not follow those normal rules and must be memorized (i.e, beard, climb, flood, great, snow, world). This app also uses phonics to help your child learn new words by putting sounds together to make words (like /b/ /a/ /t/ bat). So your child will be able to read and write words correctly without memorizing. In this game, your child will help Snow the polar bear reach an iceberg to catch fish. Each correct letter chosen adds a block to his bridge. Finish the word and Snow can cross, but watch out for wrong letters, or Snow will take a dip! This is the fun game to improve your child's spelling abilities. Cimo & Snow Spelling Pals also provides a progress report (play history) for teachers and parents to track their child's performance. The additional setup options allow you to control the level of word difficulty (i.e, CVC words are included in easy level, digraphs are in medium level and blends are in the difficult level) and customize the number of questions to match your child. This game will help your children improve their reading skills in a fun and interactive environment. **All words have been recorded by professional voice talent. *** If you have any questions or problems related to our app, please email us at playsmart.kids@gmail.com.
