Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: StudyFetch at 4.8 against GenomeCache's 4.2. StudyFetch also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (15K vs 5). GenomeCache's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 12) and review sentiment (44% vs 33%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

StudyFetch holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StudyFetch has 15K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of GenomeCache's written reviews are positive against 33% of StudyFetch's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

GenomeCache ships an update every 3 months, StudyFetch every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
