Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Coupon Generator PRO at 3.4 against Meme Maker's 2.1. Coupon Generator PRO also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). Meme Maker's advantage is review sentiment (61% vs 29%) and price ($0.99 vs $1.99). On ratings volume, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Meme Maker costs $0.99 and Coupon Generator PRO $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Coupon Generator PRO holds the better App Store score, 3.4 against 2.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 5 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Meme Maker's written reviews are positive against 29% of Coupon Generator PRO's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
