US English version of Speech Sounds on Cue Lite! People who speak with an Australian or British accent should download the Aus version instead. Speech therapy treatment software for articulation difficulty caused by apraxia of speech or other speech difficulties. The aim of this app is to increase the intensity of treatment for people with apraxia, combining J. Rosenbek's integral stimulation approach with B. Hill's carrier phrase facilitation drills. This is the US version of the application, with all audio and video recorded by the US speech pathologist Terri Nichols, MS, CCC-SLP, Clinical consultant to Bungalow Software, Virginia USA who also recorded for the Windows/Mac version. This free application covers only the 'W' consonant. This application shows how to produce the "W" sound and words beginning with "W". It encourages speech, even in people with severe speech difficulties. This easy to use iPad application contains 39 videos, sound clips and colour photos designed to help adults and children to produce the 'W' consonant speech sound in isolation, in words and in sentences. Now includes recording, playback, rhyming words and randomisation. This software is especially helpful to those who need to hear and see a sound made, for example, patients with motor speech difficulty due to speech apraxia (verbal or oral apraxia affecting speech). Provides multimedia full-motion video cues, for independent speech practice. Cues are for individual phonemes (sounds) as well as full words. Each exercise targets one word, divided into 20 consonant positions. For each exercise it provides: * Color photo * Auditory and written trigger phrase * Written word * Video clip of a speaker * Records and plays back patient's voice with model sound for comparison. This app enables intensive independent practice for Motor Speech Disorders, with immediate auditory feedback. There are also two full versions available (the original Aus and newer US version) which contain 20 consonants and 530 words/ photos/ videos.

DAF Pro helps people who stutter and people with Parkinson's slow down and speak more fluently. Put on headphones, speak, and hear your own voice a fraction of a second later. How It Works Delayed auditory feedback (DAF) is a clinically recognized speech therapy technique. Hearing your voice on a short delay naturally slows your speaking rate, which can make speech smoother and clearer. Research suggests DAF helps around 1 in 3 people who stutter, and it is also used to help people with Parkinson's control their speaking rate. Who It's For * People who stutter or stammer * People with Parkinson's disease * People with dysarthria * People who clutter * Speech-language pathologists, for therapy sessions and home practice Features * Adjustable delay and pitch shift * Very low latency, so short delays stay short * Keeps working in the background and with the screen off * Record and play back your speech * Works with wired and Bluetooth headsets. Bluetooth adds extra delay that varies by headset, so wired headphones work best for short delays. Getting Started Put on headphones, set the delay to around 50–100 ms, press Start and speak. Then adjust until your speech feels slower and steadier. Built by a UK speech and language therapist. One-time purchase: no subscription, no ads, no account needed. Questions or feedback? Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: Speech Sounds on Cue Lite US at Free against DAF Pro's $5.99. Speech Sounds on Cue Lite US also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 63%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.0). DAF Pro's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 2.8) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 8 months). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Speech Sounds on Cue Lite US's written reviews are positive against 63% of DAF Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
