Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Moose Math at none against LetterSchool's 10. Moose Math also leads on review sentiment (76% vs 55%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). LetterSchool's advantage is ratings volume (17K vs 592) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LetterSchool sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Moose Math asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

LetterSchool holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LetterSchool has 17K ratings behind it against 592, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of LetterSchool's written reviews are positive against 76% of Moose Math's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. Both last shipped on November 8, 2026.
