Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Learn Languages at 7.7K against 50 languages's 607. 50 languages's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. 50 languages sells 17 one-off in-app purchases and Learn Languages sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 2 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for 50 languages against 4.7 for Learn Languages. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Learn Languages has 7.7K ratings behind it against 607, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 80% of 50 languages's written reviews are positive against 83% of Learn Languages's.
50 languages ships an update every 5 weeks, Learn Languages every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 19, 2026.
