About

Quick Linear Regression

This app helps estimate the relationship between two variables using linear regression. It visualizes data, calculates regression coefficients, and provides R-squared values for goodness of fit. Reports can be generated and shared.

Highlights
  • Linear regression analysis
  • Data set management
  • R-squared calculation
  • Equation form switching
  • Variable estimation
  • PDF report generation

In statistics, linear regression is a technique for estimating the relationship between an independent variable, X, and its scalar result, the dependent variable, Y, derived from a series of X-Y relationships. The computational routine involves trying to fit a straight line between a scatter plot of X-Y coordinates such that the sum of the squared differences between each dependent outcome, Yi, and the line computed at each Xi is minimized. This is the so-called "ordinary least squares (OLS)" estimator. R-squared, often called the "coefficient of determination," expresses the "goodness of fit" of the line to the scatter plot. It ranges from 0, no fit whatever, to 1, which is a perfect relationship where all the points in the plot fit along the straight line. The iPad version allows you to add, retrieve, reorder, or delete data sets. It also permits emailing, text messaging, and printing of a PDF report. Also, changing the form of the regression equation from Y = function(X) to X = function(Y) is allowed along with estimation of the dependent variable amount from a user-specified independent variable amount.

SPELL IT ONCE. BE HEARD THE FIRST TIME. You are on the phone. The agent is waiting. You are three letters into a booking reference and "S as in… Sierra?" is already too slow. Alpha Academy trains the one skill nobody teaches you: reading a code out loud so the other end gets it right the first time. It teaches the NATO/ICAO phonetic alphabet — Alfa through Zulu plus the digits — and then makes you use it on the strings you actually have to spell. HOW IT TRAINS • Learn the plate — every letter arrives as a printed card: the glyph, the code word, a respelled pronunciation key like AL-FAH, one line on why the word is what it is, and the audio. • Drill both directions — letter to word for when you are spelling, word to letter for when someone is spelling to you. • Read a real string — encode a booking reference in order, or listen to one being spelled and write down what you heard. • Keep it warm — a Daily Drill built from your weak letters plus one string. Two minutes a day holds the whole chart. SIX PRACTICE MODES • Study — cards with audio and mnemonics • Letter → Word — see a letter, call the code word • Word → Letter — hear a code word, name the letter • Encode a String — spell out a real reference, in order • Decode by Ear — listen, then write down what you heard • Speed Mode — sixty seconds, build a combo THE STRINGS YOU ACTUALLY SPELL Encode and Decode draw from six scenario sets, so you are never spelling nonsense: flight numbers, hotel confirmations, email addresses, device serial numbers, passport and document numbers, and parcel tracking codes. MASTERY PER SYMBOL, NOT ONE BLUNT SCORE All 36 letters and digits carry their own level from 0 to 5. Answer one correctly and it moves up and is scheduled further out; miss it and it comes back sooner. Questions are drawn from what is due, so the letters you already know stop taking up your time — and the chart fills in as you go. THREE ALPHABETS • NATO / ICAO — the international aviation and maritime standard • Able Baker — the WWII Allied military and aviation set • Law Enforcement — the set used by US police and dispatch Switch any time. Progress for each set is kept separately. THE CHART, ALWAYS ONE TAP AWAY A full reference table you can reach mid-call — every symbol, its code word and how to say it. It never hides behind a session, because the moment you need it is not the moment you are practising. TRACK YOUR RECORD Day streaks, accuracy by mode, XP and four ranks from Cadet to Wing Commander. 34 achievements to earn, from First Contact to Chart Complete. Export a one-page training record as a PDF whenever you want proof. ALSO IN THE APP • Your own callsign, derived from your initials and spelled properly • Spoken audio at a speed you control • An optional daily reminder, at a time you pick • Works fully offline — no connection needed to train • No account, no sign-in, no ads, nothing gated behind a paywall WHO IT IS FOR Pilots and student pilots, air traffic and dispatch, maritime and amateur radio operators, customer support and front-desk staff, logistics and delivery, and anyone who has ever improvised "M as in… Mike?" and been misheard anyway. Alpha Academy is an independent training app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with NATO, ICAO, the ITU or any aviation, maritime or law-enforcement authority. The phonetic alphabets it teaches are public standards, reproduced for training only. Spell it once. Be heard the first time.
