Ship Captain and Crew is a also known by many names such as Cap'n, Bos'n, Mate or 6-5-4 or Ship of Fools or Destroyer. The aim of the game is to roll a ship(6), then a captain(5) and then a crew(4) with 3 dices and get the highest score with other two (cargo). A player rolls five dices and collect 6,5,4 in descending order. Each player gets three rolls in a single round and if they have collected 6,5,4 then the sum of the value of the remaining two dice would be your score for that round. You can play in single player mode which has a total of 10 rounds. Or you can play against the computer where you both get 10 rounds each. You can also play against your friend or family in the "Local 2 player mode". We hope you like the game and share it with your friends and family too.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Ship Captain Crew at 100% against CloseTheBox's 56%. Ship Captain Crew also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
CloseTheBox holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CloseTheBox has 3.8K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of CloseTheBox's written reviews are positive against 100% of Ship Captain Crew's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
CloseTheBox ships an update every 8 months, Ship Captain Crew every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
