Just Tracks watches your Amtrak train and puts it on your lock screen an hour before it leaves, so you never have to check on it. Search for a train by route or by number, add it to My Trips, and stop thinking about it. A live card appears an hour before departure and follows the train the whole way: how long until you need to leave, where the train has got to, how many stops before yours, and whether it is running late. The countdown keeps moving with no network and nothing to open — a glimpse is all it takes. WHAT IT DOES • Live on the lock screen, and in the Dynamic Island on the iPhones that have one. • Follows the train, not just the timetable. Delays, position and stops remaining, updated as the train runs. • Warns you when a train may leave early. Not every surprise is a delay, and a train you are strolling towards may already be going. • More than one trip. Two trains on the same route, or journeys in both directions, each with its own card when its hour comes. • Suggestions. The next few trains on your route, one tap away, for the morning you miss yours. • Repeats. Set the days a trip runs on and it plans itself. NO ACCOUNT There is nothing to sign into. No email address, no password, no invite code. Install it and it works. ABOUT THE DATA Times come from Amtrak's published timetable and from a public Amtrak tracking feed, which runs a few minutes behind the train itself. Estimates move in both directions as a journey unfolds. Built and used daily on the Capitol Corridor; the timetable covers Amtrak's network. Just Tracks is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amtrak, and Amtrak is a registered trademark of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Just Tracks at every 8 days against NMRoads's every 5 months. NMRoads's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.7 vs 17.2). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
