Drone pilots will need additional information about rules for unmanned aircraft systems not covered in the PSTAR app. The app allows you to go through each section separately and answer question by question. You will be able to see the correct answer immediately and don´t have to wait until the end to see the final score. We think that way you will learn much quicker. Once you feel competent you can start trying some of the exams. When you score consistently more than 90% you should be well prepared for the real exam! This is also an excellent tool to study Air Law for your PPL and CPL written exams. Before a student pilot in Canada can go for his/her first solo flight, the Transport Canada PSTAR (Pre-Solo Test about Air Regulations) exam has to be completed. It is an exam about Air Regulation. The questions in the database are taken from the official Transport Canada Study Guide, TP11919. The PSTAR app will be updated regularly to ensure the most current questions. The PSTAR exam you will take at your Flight School or at Transport Canada consists of 50 questions. If you study with this app a couple of evenings a week you should have no problem scoring a good grade. The minimum pass rate is 90%. Use your time more efficiently, study for your PSTAR exam on the go, and pass with ease. Good luck with your PSTAR exam and many happy landings! This P-Star Study Guide app is designed to ensure that student pilots have the necessary knowledge in areas such as air regulations, navigation, meteorology, and general aviation. The app consists of 185 multiple-choice questions distributed across the following 14 topics: Collision Avoidance, Visual Signals, Communications, Aerodromes, Equipment, Pilot Responsibilities, Wake Turbulence, Aeromedical, Flight Plans & Itineraries, Clearances & Instructions, Aircraft Operations, General Airspace Regulations, Controlled Airspace, and Aviation Occurrences. Users can select a topic from the Practice Categories page, then go through each question in the category, selecting a response and being automatically presented with the next question. Upon completing a category, the user is presented with a summary page indicating how many of their responses were correct, how many were incorrect, and their percentage of correct responses. At the bottom of the summary page are three links: Review, which allows the user to go through each question to see the correct response; Retake, which resets the score and takes the user back to the first question in the category; and Topics, which returns the user to the Practice Categories page and displays a green check mark beside the category, indicating that it has been attempted. Note: Each of the question and review screens displays an Acronyms link that allows the user to reference descriptions for acronyms or abbreviations.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: PSTAR Plus at Free against P's $3.99. PSTAR Plus also leads on ratings volume (14 vs 1). P's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). On rating, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for PSTAR Plus against 5.0 for P. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PSTAR Plus has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. PSTAR Plus ships an update every 3 months, P every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
