HiSS is less a recorder and more a companion for managing your voice recordings — from the moment you hit record to the day you need to find that one clip again. ONE BUTTON, FULLY STAMPED Press record. The date, time, and label are spoken into the file automatically, with no extra taps or menus. Months later the recording still tells you when it was made and what it was for, straight from the audio itself. BUILT LIKE AN INSTRUMENT The layout is modeled on real hardware, so how to use it is obvious at a glance. Every control is there because a real recording task needs it — the design follows the function, not the other way around. It feels more deliberate and dependable than a plain recording app. TRANSCRIBED ON YOUR PHONE Every recording becomes searchable text automatically, entirely on-device. Nothing is sent anywhere. Works in English, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. REVIEW SENTENCE BY SENTENCE Open a recording and read its transcript one sentence at a time while the audio plays. The current sentence is highlighted and follows along, and tapping any sentence jumps to that moment. Trace what was said, find the part you need, and review a recording without scrubbing back and forth. Available for recordings transcribed on your device. SMALLER FILES, SAME CLARITY HiSS uses a size-tuned AAC format that sits in the sweet spot between file size and audio quality — recordings take up meaningfully less space than the iPhone's built-in Voice Memos, with no real hit to how they sound. A full year of daily recordings fits comfortably on your phone. FIND IT, SHARE IT Search across dates, labels, locations, and transcript text to pull up any recording in seconds. Export as audio, plain text, Markdown, or CSV — drop into Obsidian, Bear, or Notion, send to Apple Notes, or copy straight to your clipboard. PREMIUM FEATURES The core stays free: recording, stamping, on-device transcription, and every export format. A one-time $4.99 premium unlocks four more themes (Mono, Iris, Ember, Dusk) and iCloud sync across your devices. No subscription, no account. PRIVACY Recordings live in the app's own storage. Transcription happens locally. Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to share it.
