For starters, there are no ads to distract you. There's no account to create, and you don't even need to be connected to the Internet. So, how does it work? If you are a beginner, let yourself be guided by the introductory lessons included. The lessons are SHORT and EASY. Right from the start, you begin playing by moving pieces, and you learn the rules of the game while having fun. The first 40 lessons are free. Once you know the rules, you start playing real games! The coach shows you the moves a Grandmaster would pick. Not just one move, but THE 4 BEST MOVES. Sounds too simple? But think about it... How did you learn to speak as a child? Did you take grammar and spelling lessons? Of course not. You listened to the adults talk and then you went for it! Because that's how you learn! This app allows you to do just that, AND IT WORKS! From the very first games, you start learning effortlessly. You immediately enjoy playing, and after a while you notice that the right moves come to mind naturally, as if they were obvious. Gradually, you deactivate the suggestions and play by yourself. At the end of each game, the coach shows you the good and bad moves you've made. You can better understand what happened, and you can even try out other moves to improve. Welcome to the online multiplayer version of Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe, the strategic evolution of the classic game we all know and love. Engage in dynamic and intense gameplay as you face off against friends or random opponents from around the world. Can you conquer the 3x3 grid of nine interconnected Tic-Tac-Toe boards? How to Play Just like in traditional Tic-Tac-Toe, you'll take turns with your opponent, with X starting the game. But here's the twist: your moves dictate where your rival can play next. If you make a move in the top right square of a small board, your opponent must respond in the corresponding small board. Strategy is key as you strive to win the smaller boards to claim victory on the larger one. Rules of Engagement Win a small board by the normal Tic-Tac-Toe rules, and it's yours in the larger board. Once a small board is won or filled, no more moves can be made in it. If you're directed to a completed board, choose any other available board. The game concludes when one player conquers the larger board or when no legal moves remain, resulting in a draw. Online Multiplayer Madness Challenge your friends to thrilling matches or test your skills against random opponents in our global multiplayer arena. Enjoy the ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe showdown anytime, anywhere. Leaderboards and Progress Tracking Sign in to keep track of your wins, and climb the leaderboard ranks to prove your Tic-Tac-Toe prowess. Verdict
Chess without ads and Ultimate Tic both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 91% of Chess without ads's written reviews are positive against 50% of Ultimate Tic's. Chess without ads also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (39K vs 14). Ultimate Tic's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Chess without ads sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per 7 days and Ultimate Tic sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Chess without ads against 4.6 for Ultimate Tic. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess without ads has 39K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 91% of Chess without ads's written reviews are positive against 50% of Ultimate Tic's.
Chess without ads ships an update fortnightly, Ultimate Tic every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
