* Swisscom App of the Year 2012 OKO is a hypnotising puzzle game that turns satellite images taken from the NASA database into a mesmerising journey around the Planet. The game's rich otherworldly soundscapes are composed from recordings taken aboard space shuttles. The goal is to reconstruct an image by stopping rotating circles cut out from the image. For each level, the animated pieces draw increasingly complex patterns. The challenge is to be attentive to image juxtapositions in order to stop each circles movement at the right moment. Now available on the App Store with retina graphics! "Beautiful. Engaging. Excellent transmedia incorporation of space imagery.” – Yvonne Clearwater, New Media Innovation Leader at NASA / Ames Research Center

OKO costs $3.99 and The Guides Compendium $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
The Guides Compendium holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Guides Compendium has 18 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of OKO's written reviews are positive against 70% of The Guides Compendium's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
