Particle Music
Create generative music by dropping particles into a physics-driven playground. Collisions trigger notes, with particle size determining pitch and color influencing sound. Shape bumpers to alter audio and build unique compositions.
- Physics-driven particle collisions for sound generation
- Adjustable particle size for pitch control
- Customizable particle colors and voice layers
- Configurable bumper shapes with audio effects
- Four independent voice layers with waveform morphing
- Support for 6 musical scales and microtonal import
- Gyroscope control and physics simulation

Particle Music is a generative music sandbox where physics makes the song. Drop colored particles into a glass playground, tilt your device โ or let auto-motion drive them โ and every collision becomes a note. A particle's size picks its pitch on the active scale. Its color is yours. Its voice comes from the layer it lives in. Scatter shaped bumpers across the scene to deflect, accent, detune, filter-sweep, randomize, or echo the sounds that strike them, and a simple still life turns into a composition that keeps unfolding. Four independent layers stack SATB-style, each with its own waveform (morph freely between sine, triangle, square, and saw), subtle pitch drift for choral breath, filter tilt, reverb send, and an octave shift so voices can sit in different registers. What's inside: โข Up to 32 particles across 4 voice layers โข 6 musical scales plus full Scala (.scl) microtonal import โข 6 bumper shapes with spin modes and per-shape audio effects โข Per-layer timbre morph, drift, filter, reverb, and octave โข Physics you can feel โ gyroscope control, edge bounce, collisions, friction, restitution โข Preset snapshots to save a configuration and return to it later โข Reverb presets from small room to cathedral There's no timeline, no grid, no tutorial telling you what to do. Build a configuration, watch it play, change one thing, watch it play differently. Use it as a quiet background for focus, an ambient companion, or a toy to spark ideas for music made somewhere else. Gravity & Wind

Gravity & Wind is a physics-driven generative MIDI sequencer and performance controller for iPhone and iPad. Build evolving sequences with Timed generation, hold an exact population with Fixed mode, or tap the field to perform directly. Shape gravity, directional dual-noise wind, bounce, and velocity response, then turn floor impacts into quantized MIDI notes. Free features include five scales (Major, Natural Minor, Major Pentatonic, Minor Pentatonic and Chromatic), 12 factory scenes, motion control, all generation modes, basic CoreMIDI Note/Velocity output, output channels, Bluetooth MIDI, manual sustain-pedal forwarding and up to five user scenes. Presets play with their saved scales, MIDI/Auto pitch, CC and sustain settings even in the free version. You can turn advanced settings off, edit basic parameters, and save within the five-scene limit. Enabling or changing advanced modes requires Pro; reloading a preset restores its settings. MIDI Learn/mappings and MIDI ball triggers remain Pro features. A single, permanent Pro in-app purchase unlocks choosing all 24 scales, enabling and editing advanced preset modes, and the MIDI Processor AUv3 with host sync, automation and project recall; MIDI chord pitch control and Channel 2 ball triggers; MIDI Learn; scene-energy CC 1, Wind CC 2, Direction CC 3; Held and chord-aware Automatic Sustain; and unlimited user scenes shared with the AU. No subscription. Eligible customers who purchased the app before the switch receive Pro automatically. Gravity & Wind has no built-in sound source. Route its MIDI to a software instrument, hardware synthesizer, or DAW. No separate account registration, advertising, or third-party analytics. Purchases and restoration use your Apple Account through the App Store.

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Gravity & Wind at every 8 days against Particle Music's every 174 months. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
