Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Building Commission at 100% against HyTools's 50%. Building Commission also leads on ratings volume (16 vs 5). HyTools's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.5) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
HyTools holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 16 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of HyTools's written reviews are positive against 100% of Building Commission's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
HyTools ships an update every 6 weeks, Building Commission every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
