Dashometer vs Earth & Sky Explorer

Dashometer is ideal for walking, running, cycling, motorbiking, driving, geocaching, and more! • Large, easy to read display • Comprehensive built-in instructions • Watch the data you care about in real-time The dashboard displays telemetry values including: location, heading, altitude, speed, distance, and elapsed time. Tap on values to change their display mode; many have units which can also be changed with a tap - and many respond to a long-tap to allow further configuration. FEATURES • Imperial or metric units • Full VoiceOver (accessibility) support • Location (latitude, longitude) • Heading (degrees magnetic, or true; using GPS and internal magnetometer) • Altitude (current, minimum, maximum) • Speed (current, average, trip average, maximum, pace) • Distance (current, odometer) • Time (moving, stopped) • Share location GETTING STARTED The dashboard displays telemetry values. Tap the power icon to start a new trip or continue the current one. An animation is shown while finding your location, after which GPS signal strength is shown as 1-5 bars (more bars is better). Tap the signal indicator to stop recording data. For more information please consult the built-in instructions. Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. iPod Touch and Wi-Fi only iPad users NOTE! you need an external GPS receiver. UPDATES Dashometer is regularly updated with new functionality based on *your* feedback. UPGRADE The full version of Dashometer has ten years of five star reviews! ***** mike - v11.1 - Dec 27, 2018 I bought this app because i needed one that showed magnetic heading, as well as groundspeed for my experimental airplane. Wow, it does so much more, and displays in landscape or portrait. Can change display colors, review flight later with speed, times and altitudes, and the instructions are fantastic, great product, worth a lot more than I paid for it!! ***** Malix90x – Jun 7, 2016 It is the best in its genre as it is the most complete! So many thanks to the developer :) ***** TxHornyToad – Jan 3, 2016 In a large field of "Speed" apps this has to be the best. Very clean and clear display. Very customizable. Responsive support. ***** R8Jimmy - v4.5 - Jul 6, 2013 Works as advertised. Very informative when using it on my motorcycle. Display is easy to read. Excellent support from developer. It has plenty of advanced features too. Worth every penny. ***** v2.7 - 19-Aug-2011 The display is very clear and easy to read in a car and on a bike. The dev is very quick to respond to feedback as well.

"Earth & Sky Explorer" brings this to life in a unique and intuitive way. A beautiful 3D compass with precise GPS data lets you see through and across the Earth, and visualize Sun & Moon paths and key celestial lines in AR — for your location, or in VR for any place and time. No ads. No tracking. Just a powerful tool — for the price of a nice cappuccino. Privacy : www.durandilabs.ch/apps/compass-privacy-en Terms of Use : www.durandilabs.ch/apps/compass-terms-en Features 1. 3D Compass -- Immersive 3D wind rose and magnetic field visualization -- Direction in degrees and 16-wind system (true or magnetic) -- Magnetic declination & inclination (upright mode) -- GPS data: position, speed, altitude (flexible units & formats) -- Barometer: pressure and altitude 2. AR View (Camera & Virtual) -- Live camera overlay with azimuth & elevation -- Sun path, Moon path, horizon, celestial equator & ecliptic (at any place on earth) -- Works with all available backside cameras + zoom -- Fine-tune the compass using Sun or Moon as reference -- Sun & Moon altitude over horizon graph for ±12h -- Freely set time & date to see the tracks for any date and time (minute or day steps) 3. See Through the Earth -- Point your phone down — Have a virtual look through the globe -- Zoom to explore countries and islands -- Tap to identify locations worldwide (online feature) -- See the direct “through-Earth” distance (as the mole tunnels :-) -- Discover your antipode (opposite position on globe) 4. Virtual View from Anywhere -- Set any observer location on Earth -- Know surface distance from your current position to any other location -- Sun & Moon altitude over horizon graph for ±12h -- Earth illumination at selected date/time -- Useful in-flight: - GPS (position, speed, altitude) - Barometer (cabin pressure & equivalent altitude) 5. Global Map Perspective (Equidistant azimuthal projection) -- Center it to any location -- Visualize global distances and directions -- See the correct! Earth illumination on this projection at any time 6. Moon & Time Visualization -- Elegant analog clock -- Moon phase, declination and apparent size in a unique monthly moon graph -- Turn your device into a stylish astronomical clock Notes: Not all iPads are equipped with GPS receivers.
Even in the age of GPS, the compass is still based on measuring the Earth's magnetic field.
This measurement can be affected by magnets in the phone case or by other magnetic or electrical objects nearby. Stay curious!
