Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: SnapPal at none against Photo Timer+'s shown. SnapPal also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 5 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Photo Timer+'s advantage is ratings volume (8.4K vs 2) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Photo Timer+ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SnapPal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
SnapPal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Photo Timer+ has 8.4K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Photo Timer+ ships an update every 5 months, SnapPal every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
