Verdict

The call

Video + and Pip both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 80% of Video +'s written reviews are positive against 41% of Pip's. Video + also leads on ratings volume (12K vs 1.2K). Pip's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video + sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Pip asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Pip holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Video + has 12K ratings behind it against 1.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Video +'s written reviews are positive against 41% of Pip's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Video + ships an update every 2 weeks, Pip every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
