Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Double Browser FREE at 100% against Color Notepad's 47%. Double Browser FREE also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and iOS requirement (4.3 vs 14.0). Color Notepad's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (603 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Double Browser FREE sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Color Notepad sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Color Notepad holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Color Notepad has 603 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Double Browser FREE's written reviews are positive against 47% of Color Notepad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Double Browser FREE ships an update every 3 weeks, Color Notepad every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
