Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: iPCamera at $1.99 against SimpleStream's $549.99. iPCamera also leads on review sentiment (44% vs 0%) and ratings volume (50 vs 2). SimpleStream's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 16 months) and rating (3.0 vs 2.7). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

iPCamera costs $1.99 and SimpleStream $549.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

SimpleStream holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: iPCamera has 50 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of iPCamera's written reviews are positive against 0% of SimpleStream's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

iPCamera ships an update every 16 months, SimpleStream every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
