The Invaders of Texas Citizen Science program collects species observations from volunteer "citizen scientists" trained to use a specially developed Invasive Species Early Detection and Reporting Kit. With this kit, volunteers detect invaders' arrival and dispersal in their own local areas. The purpose of this database is to provide geographical locations and distributional information for known and "potentially" invasive plant species.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: iNaturalist at 711 against Texas Invaders's 8. iNaturalist also leads on rating (4.1 vs 3.8) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Texas Invaders's advantage is review sentiment (60% vs 49%) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
iNaturalist holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: iNaturalist has 711 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Texas Invaders's written reviews are positive against 49% of iNaturalist's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Texas Invaders ships an update every 2 months, iNaturalist fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
